Accepting myself and my gifts

I wanted to let you know how the results of this testing have affected my outlook for my business and future career.  [This experience] has given me the ability to accept myself and the gifts I have as a business owner, as well as let go of the guilt I carry with me every day that I should be able to do it better. I will apply for my instructor’s license and possibly counseling courses so I can help the next generation…coming into the industry I have spent my career in that I still love.  It only makes sense!

Thank you for helping me see myself more clearly and celebrate my gifts as well as accept my areas of weakness.  It continues to be life changing as I process the information revealed through this testing. Thank you for helping me with this insight.

An eye-opening experience

I thought I knew what I wanted, but it wasn’t until our consultation that I realized why. It was an eye-opening experience. I feel much more sure of my choices now.

We didn’t have it quite right

Like most parents we thought we had an idea of what our daughter wanted in a college education. And like most parents, we didn’t have it quite right. Susan, at The Handmade Life, helped us find a bridge between generations and between expectations.

Understanding what energizes me

I had gone back to graduate school with the intention of pursuing a tenure track professorship, when unforeseen health issues changed every plan I had imagined.

After reading Nick’s book, I contacted the Rockport Institute hoping for some help to navigate a job market now more frightening and foreign.  I was especially anxious about being a slightly older job candidate.

I have benefited from the insight, perspective, and support that Susan shares.   Unlike many career centers, where everyone is treated the same, Susan’s method includes getting to know me as a person and understanding the activities and ways of being in the world that I find energizing.  Instead of worrying about where I fit, I am learning how to create a future with skills and personal predilections that have value to me and potentially to others.

I have learned how to think differently about strengths and interests I had taken for granted.   Three things especially have been transformative about working with Susan:  insight and suggestions that come from knowing me, specific knowledge about the work place and concrete steps of career building, and an abundant supply of energy that keeps me encouraged and positive.

A joyful, validating process

Before I met Susan I was miserable at work and scared that I’d never be able to find the work that was right for me. Through the joyful and validating process that was working with Susan, I came to an unshakeable and deep understanding of what I was best at and what I loved to do. I became an entrepreneur and founded a successful video knitting website that has fulfilled my goals of challenge, learning, service, and independence, among many others. And I’m great at it!! Thank you, Susan!
